Nope. . .It's just so much living has been going on we're (almost) too busy to blog about it!
The weather here has been surprisingly nice lately, especially in the evenings. We're just trying to enjoy the cool evening breezes since we know they will soon be smoldering waves of torture.
We checked out the Elementary School's Reading Under the Stars Night. This is a really fun PTO sponsored activity where you come dressed as your favorite book characters and then have teachers, also dressed in character read classics outloud (Dr. Suess, Where the Wild Things Are, etc.) I am a huge fan of reading out loud and dressing in costume. It was a fun evening. Can you guess who these folks are dressed up as?? (except for The Professor who boycotts things not to do with reality) .
Then we had a delightful evening down at Freestone Park. I was feeling unmotivated to make dinner around 4 p.m. when I hatched a plan to go eat lake side. . .now that can get my cooking skills whipped into action! (I must have been inspired by my sister Nancy's Duck Blog Post)
We had a delightful Italian meal (including bruchetta, baby artichokes, pasta alfredo and chewy rosemary bread). We took extra bread to feed the ducks. The whole evening was a smash hit with the kids; they instantly fell in love with some baby ducklings squaking in the light of the setting sun. The weather was amazing. . .if anything it was almost too breezy! And since no one fell into the lake it was definitely a successful venture! (We missed Luna who had been invited to spend the evening at a friend's house.)
Saturday was full of more excitement when we spent the day at the Zoo. (Okay, so this was actually a warm day, but we still managed to have a great time).
The orangutans were our favorite, along with the little monkey's, the African Savanna animals and the poison dart frogs. So great to see these animals and remember how big the world really is.

I am here apologizing for my formatting woes. . .really, could blogger make this simpler? But you get the idea!
what a great park, how come you've never taken me? Glad I could inspire you, doesn't food taste better next to some water with ducks in it?
It's really a good thing when you are too busy living the fun life to blog. Sounds like some fun times.
So I guess I need to brush up on my childrens' books. is Maddie Nancy Drew? And Sophie looks like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, but that's not a book. Well it is, but it's not really a childrens' book. Please enlighten me!
Did you just go to the zoo for fun? Or was there something going on there? It all sounds very fun. Wish we got you see you more.
Maddie said she's Cinderalla, and Sophie is indeed Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Savanna dressed up like Hermione and Sam was Darth Vadar. . .more Halloweenish than not, in deed!
We had free tickets to the zoo. . .it was a lot more fun because it was free!
I think Maddie resembles a young girl named Becky at her junior high graduation. She probably looked like Cinderella too but never knew it. Sophie makes a great Dorothy.
If you hang on to your junior high graduation dress (that your mother lovingly hand crafted) it will come in handy for Reading Under the Stars Night!
