Just Keepin It Real

My blogging philosophy is such that I tend to focus on the good and happy things in my life, the things worth celebrating and emphasizing.

Today, though I am feeling my typical cheerful self, I share with you

a Dose of Reality
My Laundry Room Overfloweth.

This is how it looked this morning.
It was not doctored or staged to elicit your sorrow filled condolences.
Note the irony of the sign: "Clean is a beautiful color"

(I don't have the "after pictures" to show you,
but I did sort and wash several loads today.
It looks much better now,
I assure you.
BTW, my husband is mortified that I posted this.
And I quote: "Have you ever heard of the phrase
'Air your dirty laundry'?"
I, in my frank and straight forward ways
share it with you in a hopes that
you may feel better about your own
laundry up to your eyeballs days.)

Also, I documented Sunshine's trail of destruction.
This was not an atypical day for her:

took apart mom's purse

a few steps into the living room and we see
blankets strewn

chair cushions dismanteled

onto the office we find. . .

she's been into dad's computer drawers

and has figured out how to turn on PhotoBooth all by herself!
(she is smart, did I mention this?)
and drew in pencil all over my key board
(does Magic Eraser work on this? Will the moisture damage the keyboard?)

As an aside I give you evidence of her smart nature. . .

she put her own shoes on this morning, again all by herself.
She also moved at least 6 pairs of shoes to various locations in the house.

Here we have a picture of her having chewed apart a sonic cup with leftover blue raspberry slushy she plucked from the freezer.
She is hiding in behind the shower curtain.
Very coy this one.

I might add that she made a huge mess at lunch time with peanutbutter all over her naked self, so I threw her in the tub. Where she promptly pooped in the water. Too much information, I know and so I spare you any visual verification.

I just cleaned up with my big kids after school while we danced and sang to the
Over the Hedge Sound track
An eclectic little 80's mix that's got a good rythm.

Despite her Cyclonic nature,
We adore her.

Are husbands authorized to veto certain blog posts?

Isn't this the very definition of airing our dirty laundry in public?

Sounds to me like Heavenly Father didn't want you to have it too easy with mostly grown kids! I'm enjoying my toddler free freedom, but would take a Sophia anyday! I too have been doing laundry like crazy, cleaning out and organizing closets and man am I tired. Glad we're in it together!

Must be that age. Isabel has also found that she can write all over the floors and the walls. So far it's only been in pencil but I'm just waiting for the permanent marker.

Oh, I can commiserate with the trail of destruction. And the laundry.

Love how real you are! The more we can laugh at these things, the more joy in the journey. Thanks for sharing ;)

Maybe you will have to lock your freezer too, re. your blog about the possibility of locked cupboards.

When my children were little, I used to try to explain this phenomenon to my husband, the idea that the kids would move from room to room making messes just as fast as I could follow cleaning it up. And at the end of the day, they were ahead. He never quite understood. I guess I needed a digital camera and a blog.

Thanks for posting this, Becky! We all need to know we are not alone in our battles with the never-ending laundry piles. Love the documentation of a toddler's path of destruction. It's so amazing how quicly they work. Love the cute, pink crocs by the way.

Mothers always get to be rewarded with the beauty of laundry, Becky, I don't know how you do it with your big fam......

Jonathan and I enjoyed this post more than you will know...especially since we just barely got the laundry folded that was stacked to almost the ceiling on our air hockey table.

We were also saying how much we love your parenting styles and how much fun you have as a family. We love feeling like we are closer than we are reading your blogs. We always get a good laugh or some inspiration that does a body good!
