The Goose is Getting Fat!

Christmas is Coming!
We've been:

1.  baking, baking, baking!  Day 1, make white chocolate popcorn ALL DAY and for FHE delivered neighborhood gifts.  Day 2:  Luna and StarGirl decided they needed chocolate carmel pretzel rods for all their friends, so another day in the kitchen baking. But I was proud of those two as they made the pretzels and delievered them all by their little selves (industrious with peddling themselves around the neighborhood!)

2.  finishing up shopping!  I think I've got it all done!  Is it wrong to go "stocking stuffer shopping" in your own closets and pantry?  Because that's what I'm doing this year; I do not want to go into another store again for at least a week.  My penchant for "persistence" in finding the right gift is doing me in. (I am being nice to myself using the word persistence.  I get this quality from my dad.  Siblings, do you suffer from this problem when you try to make a purchase?  I have to look in at least a dozen stores before I decide I've found the right gift.  It is killing me).

3.  Scheming scheming scheming about Christmas Eve party.  I wish I could turn off my brain sometimes.  Or at least make it realize that just because you have a good idea DOES NOT mean you have to act upon that good idea.  Yes, my brain really needs to learn this trick.  Maybe a New Year's Resolution here?  Yesterday I went to Trader Joes hoping to pick up some Pine Wreathes.  Well, wouldn't you know they sold out the night before!  So, after driving around and checking an additional THREE Christmas Tree lots and coming up empty handed, Mr. Handsome saved the day and picked some up on his way home from work at a nursery in Scottsdale from Frank (who makes them himself).  He gets the Husband of the Year Award for that (Mr. Handsome, not Frank, though I'm sure Frank is a very nice man).  Here's to hoping they look beautiful suspended horizontally from my chandelier Christmas Eve.  And. . . do you think I need a dessert at my Christmas Eve Dinner?  Because my lovely sister who I had intended on bringing it will be attending her sweetie's Christmas Eve Party (alas!  The mixed blessing of having two families living close to each other!)  We will miss you, Una.  BUT . . .  if this means I need a dessert, should I endeavor to make some Italian Vanilla Almond Gelato for our guests?  I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about these things. . .not in a panicky way, but more in an excited, I can't wait for Christmas sort of way.  But still, I am waking up in the night thinking about decorations and desserts.  What does this say about me? Mr. Handsome is not allowed to chime in on that question.

4.  Does my penchant for rambling, run on sentances mean I've got a little too much on my mind?  Yes, and though all of it is of the "less important" variety, I can't seem to turn my brain to "chill" mode.  I think it helps if I go outside more.  I hereby vow to go outside and look at the trees and sky at least 6 times today.

5.  The wrapping is, however, complete.  I learned 2 things about wrapping this year:  It is much more relaxing that looking for gifts at the mall.  and 2.  It's all about the ribbon. Sparkle!  (Can I stick in a 3rd thing?  I can?  Good!)  3.  Cute Nesting boxes that require no wrapping are a true life saver.  Love, love, love them.

6.  Note to You:  If you ever decide to throw your sister in laws annual New Year's Eve Party at your house instead of her house because she's due to deliver a baby this week (Horrah!), you might want to order your 80s jelly bracelets in November instead of a week before.  You will save a bundle on shipping.

7.  Note to Self:  There is a reason you've never bought a Wilson Gingerbread House Kit before.  They are not as fun as they look.  Heresy?  You decide.  Giant Gingerbread Man from Trader Joe's was much better.

8.  You should know here, that Mr. Bingley is back to his original self with brown hair.  His daddy buzzed it off last night.  Admittedly, a buzz is not my favorite hair cut.  But I think this kid can pull it off.  Goodbye, RedHead!

Merry Christmas to you, Becky and all! We got your Christmas card yesterday....gorgeous pictures of y'all. Becky, you look radiant...I don't think you've aged a day since you got married.

Sounds like a delicious, tasty celebration at your house. Those lights at the temple are lovely.

The fact that you wake up in the night thinking about decorations and desserts just signifies that you are your mother's daughter. I have made way more desserts than I should have and our guests Christmas Eve didn't even make a dent. I'd doing my best to give them away and eat them so they won't be here to temp me, but there is just too much. Mr. Bingley looks so grown up with his buzz hair cut. Miss the red hair! our fresh pine wreath decoration looks great as do the rest of your pictures. I guess I'll have to consider your suggestion that just because you have a great idea for a decoration or a dessert doesn't mean that you have to act on it!

The above comment is supposed to say Your pine wreath instead of our!
