Peter Pan over Breakfast

I have costumes on my brain so we talked about Halloween costumes while we ate our breakfast this morning.  See, yesterday I had to drive far, far away from here to sign some papers for some business trasaction Handsome Husband is doing.  Since I passed Savers on the way home I thought, I will pop in here. . .cuz what if they have a Peter Pan costume for Bingley?  They're $25.00 plus shipping on ebay and that's too much, but wouldn't he make the cutest Peter Pan?

And you wanna know what I found there in the green costume section?  Yep.  A Peter Pan top from the Disney store.  Even his size. Five bucks.

So I was showing the kids the costume (while I should have been making the lunches, which I did do afterwards) and telling them how we're going to dye Bingley's hair orange (insert Professor's roll of the eyes here). . . but only a temporary hair color. . .and then I tried to convince The Baron that since he wants to be Avatar (the last air bender, not the blue people shiney people who ride flying dragons) he should really shave his head.  He refused.  And I quote:  "No Mom.  I'm not doing it.  I just want to wear a bald cap."  Me:  "Come on, Kiddo!  Don't you want to shave your head?  It will look awesome."

And then we talked about whether Sunshine should be Tinker Bell or Wendy.  Wouldn't she make such a darling Wendy?  Really, she looks more like Wendy and cousin Norah looks like Tinkerbell.  But since Cousin Norah lives an entire state away, we can't go trick or treating together (unless I come up during fall break and plan an early costume party. . .should we do that Utah cousins?  Chime in).   Sophie is undecided.

Then I told The Professor he could be John and carry an umbrella and wear a top hat.  He looked at me funny and said, "No."  I persisted.  He said, "People will ask me who I am and I will say, 'John' and they will look at me funny and say, "Huh?  John the Baptist?"  As if John the Baptist wore a top hat and carried a full length umbrella!  Since I wasn't getting far on The Professor and the Peter Pan theme I moved on to Luna.  "Luna,  you could be Wendy and StarGirl could be a mermaid."  That's when Luna said, "If you want me to be a Peter Pan character you're going to have to pay me.  And I'll only be Tiger Lilly."  Pay you!?  I was incensed!  She added "You can just pay me in candy."  (Do you think these kids have a financier father or what?)

And that was our morning.  Everyone got out to the door on time and I must now go load the breakfast dishes.

Since all posts need a picture to be good, here is Mr. Bingley from this weekend when he ate a green crayola marker for breakfast.  No it was not washable.  And yes, he did swallow much of it.  You don't want to know how I know this.

this post is making me laugh since it's so typical of your cute family. I'd like to chime in that you most definitely should come to Utah, in fact I'll offer my house up for the Halloween party, I've got decorations up and everything. Actually maybe we could even work it into a joint b-day party for the October birthdays (your girls and mine). That would be fun, right! And I love the pics of Charlie, I can guess how you knew he ingested so much, gross!

Sign me up for the October birthday fun! Oh, and by the way, Sam just came home from school and said very seriously, "I wish it was Halloween once a month."

Charlie looks like he's ready to be a tie-dye Peter Pan-- I love the proud look on his face. Your family is so cute and clever-- all beginning with the Mom of the family inspiring them with great ideas. Can't wait to see the final result of your costume choices.

Love Steph

Charlie will be a very cute peter pan! Can't wait to see how the drama plays out! And I like Maddie's Tiger Lily Idea. But who would you and Rich be? Captain Hook and Mr. Shmee?
