Come to Zion

(disclaimer:  my goal when I started this post [4 days ago! ] was to share a lot of pictures with brief text below since I uploaded the "simpler" and "faster" new blogger.  These claims of ease have baffled me as I'm oblivious how to get the pictures where I want them.  No moving pictures with the space bar?! No cut and paste feature?!  What!?  None of my old tricks to navigate cumbersome blogger work on "new and improved" blogger.  Its a rouse! Thus my spotty and no text underneath format.  I need a tutorial.)

Do you remember how I accidentally drove through Zions National Park on my way home from Spring Break in Utah last March?  And how I had to pay $25.00 to use that road and how I determined it was worth every single penny?  I knew I had to get Mr. Handsome in there to experience its splendor.  How is it that I've never been to this Southern Utah Shangra-La before when I've traveled from AZ to UT roadtrip style a gajillion times, I don't know, but now my own children will be able to say "Zions National Park?  Yep, we've been there.  LOVED it!"

Since we were headed back to visit the UT fam this summer we just left a half day early and stayed the night in the cheapest hotel Hurricane had to offer.  It worked out great!  I got so excited at the beauty surrounding me that I started snapping pictures through the car window.  Here's one of the kids jam packed into the mini-van.

The shuttle system worked great and made the park much more exciting to the kids.

One of my favorite moments of the day was when we ate lunch underneath an enormous tree.  You know I've always felt like enormous trees were akin to guardian angels, like if you listen closely, they will send you a message from heaven.   Possibly J Man feels the same way as he said, "Mom, can we PLEASE take these tree home with us?  Could we just buy it and put it in the backyard?"

Wish we could, son, but we'll just have to come back again soon!

That looks like fun, we keep talking about taking a trip there too, maybe we could meet there some time. Love all of the pictures. I'm a bit frustrated with the new blogger too. I switched a little while back and have been trying to figure it out. I just make more collages now on picasa and then make them xlarge. I just hate that you can't put any two pictures next to each other.

GORGEOUS pictures! What fun to eat outdoors under a tree and not die of heat exhaustion! I've almost forgotten what that feels like...
:)

And it looks like Charlie is enjoying the backpack. I'm so very glad!!

I've had that same feeling about trees for years. Only you express is so much better than I. I think it comes from years of living in the Valley of the Sun that makes us feel so much more that trees are sacred.

What a fun adventure Becky. I love Jacob's comment about the BIG tree. There really is something majestic and magical about a tree so large.

I would love to go back to Zion's too. There are several great parks all right there and I would love spending a few weeks exploring (and enjoying the cooler weather).

Welcome home!

The last time I was in Zion's, I met a French couple who had visited most of the National Parks. They said that Zion's was the best.

When I asked, "Why", they said, "You never have to hike to a view. Wherever you look, there it is. The grandeur is not covered by trees. It is in every glance."
