Guess who is growing up too fast.
This kid is amazing. He is smart, funny, contemplative, observing, constantly thinking.
I used to complain that he could never make a statement. I would ask him to make a statement and he would say "why?" (insert my frustrated, shaking head). I wanted him to tell. To tell me how he was doing, what he was thinking. Nope. It was always, always observations and questions. But I get it now. His questions and his observations are his strength. His asset.
Once he came and told me there was a very strange bug in our house. It was small and strange and laying eggs on the wall. He said, "Mom, there's this, this, little bug thingey and its overy by the thingey. It's laying eggs." (My son has Noun Lapses; he uses the word "thingey" instead. This is challenging for a mom who relishes the English Language). I think "what's he talking about? how does he know a bug is laying eggs?"
Then he showed me this.
Oh. Duh. Look.
It's a bug thingey laying eggs.
It's a bug thingey laying eggs.
For celebrating his birthday, I got him out of school and took him to Sonic. He ate a burger and I brought steel cut oats from home (you know, to help the wallet and the waist). There is a big tree in a small irrigation ditch right where we like to park the car.
J Man has a question: "Mom, can I get out and play in the river?"
