Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

Blog posts are just snippets, pieces of life and not the whole picture. I know you already know that. But I thought I'd show you, anyway, that blogs are life zoomed in. And contrary to popular belief, your close-up shots do not always reveal your flaws. Sometimes it takes a wide shot to reveal that. Take this episode in our recent history.

I decided to take some pics of the little ones so I could play around with the colors (and as I type I'm realizing that I was influenced by Delightful Abby's pictures by Justin Hackworth. . .weren't they deliciously beautiful? And since I don't live in Mr. Hackworth's vincinity, I figured, why not experiement with my own black and white's?) Though not professional by any stretch, I was pleased with my results.

The children look winsome, their eyes sparkley with the reflected window light.
This is blog life, life zoomed in.

But in real life, only moments after I took these pictures, Sunshine called to me from the kitchen. I was focused on loading my newly taking shots up to the computer. When I turned to answer her cries, I had to grab my camera again. Only this time, there were few close ups.
Notice my zoom out progression:

She had grabbed a tub of melty buttery spread and sloshed it onto the ground in a plop. She had then tried to clean it up herself with a rag and smeared it across the entire floor. See her sadness? It is because she realized she couldn't clean it up by herself! Oh how she aspires to do all things "by myself mama!". And had I really wanted to zoom out on life, I would have shown you how my dirty dishes were still piled up in the kitchen sink! But instead I tilted my camera to spare you that distaste! Ha! This is what life looks like at our house zoomed out.

But I posted about it anyway. We'll call it a "keeping it real" post!

cute pics Beck, zoomed in and out, I only blog the zoomed in ones, I figure I don't need my dirty laundry aired on the internet, but I don't profess to be perfect either!

Excellent pictures! I love the zoom out idea. Sometimes I crop my life pictures so as not to show the real story...i.e. the chaos around the serene smile.

Isn't it strange how adorable children make huge messes.
