Updates

About my Membranes:

They are still intact. I had thought it over very carefully and decided the birthday thing was silly. . .it would be fun to share my birthday with my son. I love birthdays! Why not give birth on mine? I was fairly ambivalent about the whole thing as I sat waiting for the doctor to arrive. My weight looked normal, my blood pressure was normal and the baby's heart beat was strong. I was, however, quite distracted by my very curious 2 year old "baby" who accompanied me for this office visit. She was so good last week! This week she was throwing magazines (and my pants) around the office while we waited for the doctor to arrive. We tidied up before he walked in. Phew.

I consulted with the doc and we decided that since I'd had no signs of labor, since I hadn't further dilated since last week, and since I am only measuring at 38 weeks (not 39) that likely the procedure wouldn't kick start me anyway. We decided not to strip.

About the Play:
We are letting Luna do the show. She has her first full length rehearsal tonight. I hope she has a great experience and loves singing about her "Hard Knock Life!" I can remember singing that one over and over again with my favorite childhood next-door-neighbor, Courtney (she is a phenomenal mother who had 5 kids in under 5 years! Amazing this woman!). In fact, if I could pass for 12 instead of passing for 22 I'd hop right up on stage with her and belt out "No one cares for YOU a smidge when you're in an ORPHANAGE!" Please, do not tell me I could pass for 12.

The Robot:
And since I'm updating, I'll mention that Handsome is still in love with his Robot. Though each and every other surface in my home is covered in clutter, my floors still look good. That is, they look good for about 15 minutes in the morning before Sunshine wakes up. After that, she drags all sorts of things onto them and mama with the big belly just isn't up to bending over to pick up much this week. I may not be up to speed, but the Robot still works great. In fact, it just went off and is spinning around my floor right now. It is coming right towards me and is actually under my chair as I type this! She must have suspected I was talking about her. Only good things to say, RoboRoomba.

well I guess it's good you left your membranes in tact if the baby really isn't ready to come yet. Then maybe you can come to the party tomorrow night!

Good luck with everything. I do hope your little guy will decide to make his entrace into the world soon. Those last few weeks of being pregnant are a nightmare. Happy Birthday, Becky! Sending you wishes for a wonderful day tomorrow. Thanks for all your thoughts/insights you left on my blog!

I think it's better you left the membranes intact - it just doesn't fit in with my preconceptions about you and birthing although I hope you decide to go the epi rouite again this time.

I'll try to catch you at home tomorrow.

btw, I still love to belt out annie too. my kids too love the movie and soundtrack.
