It hit yesterday after church. Sciatica. Severe pelvic pain every time I moved (or didn't move), sat down (or stood up), shifted my weight. You don't realize how much you rely on moving your right hip until suddenly your body shuts down as if it's practicing for when your 90.
By 8:30 pm I was immobilized. I had no choice but to lie down. So instead of me tucking the kids into bed, they came to my room, one by one, and tucked me in. This turned out to be rather fun. Snuggle time was that much more snuggly with my whole bed available (despite my wincing).
The Professor started off the tuck ins giggling at how comfortable mom's bed is. We talked about his day and his weekend. He felt the baby kick and told me about his latest obsession with pokemon characters. We kept the lights low and I was beginning to feel sleep despite the early hour.
Then it was The Baron's turn. He curled up right next to me intent on engaging with his fetal sibling. Placing his hands on my belly he chanted his love in a sing song manner full of The Baron's signature enthusiasm:
"Hi! HI! You're WICKED AWESOME!! And I love you and I want to hug you and I'm your big brother and you're WICKED AWESOME!!"
The wicked awesome little baby I'm growing rewarded The Baron's affections with kicks in the appropriate spots, right under Baron's little hand. This would send Big Brother off on a stream of new wicked awesome enthusiasm. After he scurried off to bed I turned the lights all the way off and began to doze.
But wouldn't you know it, Luna and StarGirl showed up late from their trip to Disneyland with their dance group. They slipped into my room with the lights still off and gave me hugs. I was surprised at how relieved I was to have them home safe and sound (hadn't realized I'd even been worried!) I got to hear the run down of all the action, adventure and drama that a weekend in Disneyland--without your family there--affords. Needless to say, they had a blast. Their crowning achievement was persuading friends to try Tower of Terror and them saying "I loved that! It's my new favorite ride."
So despite a morning trip to the chiropractor, I can't sit down or stand up (without pain). I can't roll over in bed (without pain). And I really can't pick up after my toddler.
Still, after last night's tuck in, I'm thinking: Sciatica Schmatica.

I hope this doesn't last the remainder of your pregnancy! The snuggling part sounds nice though.
I'm crossing my fingers for you that it feels better tomorrow, that was my case with pregnant chiropractors, I mean going to chiropractors when I was pregnant.
I hope you are feeling better asap!
That sounds plain AWFUL. What sweet kids for wanting to take care of their mom. Way to look at the bright side of a bad situation!
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Hope you are feeling better! That sounds miserable, but I am glad you were able to enjoy the nighttime snuggling.
Tell Madison and Savanna that I have been able to impress many a person by telling them the Tower or Terror was my favorite ride too. They were the ones who introduced my to it. Sorry to have missed it this time. glad you had great little people to tuck you in.
