35 = Good

Does it seem like we've been celebrating a lot of birthdays lately? That's because we have. Here's some pics from Mr. Handsome's birthday weekend. We kept it low key at Handsome's insistence and it actually made for a fun and relaxing weekend.

H and I were talking about how when you're a kid you love having a new age and getting to add another year to the "How old are you?" question. Of course, when you become an adult this is a far less enticing prospect. You don't actually embrace the new number since aging has some unpleasant incidentals (ex: hair loss, creaking hip bones, eyebrow hairs that have completely stopped co-operating, death, you see what I mean). So we realized that in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years we'd say to ourselves, "You had it good in your mid thirties; stop your whining!" So we did. Getting older every year is much better than the alternative!

When I was decorating the Mister's cake I said to Savanna "Should I put a '35' on it or an 'R'?
Her immediate response: "Better do the 'R', mom, you don't want to make him feel bad."

The 11 year olds don't know how good they've got it.
We stuck with the 'R' and added 35 candles for effect. Lovely, no?

And his favorite present of the day? The Baron learning how to ride a bike by himself.
Maybe the 35 year olds do know how good we've got it.

I do think you and Richard are good at enjoying life at whatever stage you're at. So be glad you're still in your 30's. All of those symptoms you mentioned get worse with each decade. So love those 30's!
