I finally made a few new Valentine decorations for this season by re purposing some old frames with my old friend Mr. Spray Paint.
And likely you know who said the quote on the left**,
but I'll give you bonus points if you know where the quote on the right comes from!
Happy Valentines Day!
For the big dinner Monday night,
I'm thinking about making homemade Chicken soup with heart shaped dumpings
colored pink from pickeled beats.
(You wanted to know that, right?)
If that is romance then what is!?
**I, like you, am in love with Jane Austen, specifically Pride and Prejudice -- and really, I like the Kiera Knightly version, too--not to diminish my affections for Colin Firth--and Mr. Handsome and I made sure it was at the top of the Netflix que for this weekend. You know that quiz you can take online about which Jane Austen character you are most like? Well I took it about 4 years ago somewhere online and tried to be quick in my responses so as not to over analyze the whole thing.
I practically levitated out of my chair when it told me I was most like Elizabeth Bennett which I thought was hysterical--that I was genuinely so excited about the silly results (but that phrase about levitating sounds much more like Marianne from Sense and Sensibility, does it not?)

i would agree that you are like Elizabeth Bennet.
you question, you try to figure things out. and you have a romantic and "rose colored glasses" way of looking at things. i would absolutely have to concur miss Bennet!
i love your decorations for valentines. they are lightyears ahead of mine. mine are pathetic!! i wouldnt even blog them.
o well :)
Dropped by to rad and catch up on your fun. Loved seeing the pic of Pam...Hi Pam. The Italian Cream cake does sound incredible! I printed it and will try it soon. Thanks.
so cute Beck! Now why aren't you showing us how you made the heart banner? And I'm thinking it was Richard who said the bottom quote as he proposed? Actually I have no idea, but I'm loving your decor! I'm kind of questioning the beet dumplings though, we were thinking more of candlelight steak and potatoes at our house. The chicken soup part sounded good. Maybe just pink cookies died with food coloring.
You must explain to Nancy and everybody else about the naturally colored dumplings and how pretty they are. They sound great to me, but what about your family members who don't consider soup a real meal? Love the new Valentine's decorations. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family.
