(I basically think they are the reason for living.)
Last Monday was a really great relaxing but jam packed reunion day. These are the details I want to remember most:
- Jacob and Sam sleeping on the hide-a-bed mattress out on the balcony. . .the cool California air surrounding their de-sheeted comforters (but they're softer this way, mom!) Oh, to be a child again!
- Going swimming with the kids at the Mountain Springs Fancy Pool--we got there early to beat the crowds and it worked! I drove all the way back to our own place to get my forgotten camera and had to sweet talk the guard into letting me back in. That worked, too, and I'm so glad I was able to get these fun shots! Hoorah for heated pools!
(I especially love this pic of Mia! childhood joys!)
- "Girl Time" with the sisters where we belatedly celebrated Reachel's birthday ( I was so enthralled with the home style pizza that I neglected to take its picture--me? forget to take a picture of food? Strange, I know, but that surfer pizza was really good! Oooh, that cheese! Yummmmm.)
(Jean, please forgive my big head for only allowing one eye and your lovely locks to show here.
That waiter really should have taken another shot!)
- Jean and I doubled over, cracking up--we nearly knocked the dressing room down--at Taylor and Camrey acting a little too hot to trot in the BCBG get ups! We kept blurting out our gawfaw's but tried not to get in trouble with the (ahem) overly helpful staff!
- Talking about such interesting things with my fabulous sister in laws while we drove in the car. Like weather or not people sometimes get to choose weather they live or die--like is agency in play here? what do you think--and laughing, laughing (HYS.TER.I.CAL) over several inside jokes (shrinking man parts and/or turning gay men straight with your "board game loving/purse indifference/clothing shopping disdain" formula). Man, I love these sisters I've got!
- The look on Ruby June's face that went from utter alarm to sweet triumph when she caught her very own fish!
- Trying to convince myself that I could go see Inception without having BAD DREAMS and then deciding I'd rather hang out on the fence between Team Jacob and Team Edward camps in Eclipse. Thanks for joining me Jill and Heidi! We owned that theatre! Telling the teenage boys in line behind us that the brains behind the "Old Spice" commercials they were currently quoting was about to walk in the theatre live and in the flesh: "No Way!" they said. "Yep," Heidi shurgged, "He's my brother," >smug smirk<. and p.s. I'm going to see Inception later this week. My in the know comrades said I could handle it.
- Jill making me laugh my head off when she said with such committment (as if she were her next door neighbor growing up and she totally knows) Elizabeth Gilbert is the most narcissistic person ever.
Jill makes us all laugh, huh!?!
And she gave me my own bag of pretzel m&ms. mmmmmmm....m.m.
Thanks Jilly!

All these memories and all in one day. . .no wonder I love family reunions so much!

Becky, so sorry that your blog's been put on some spam list, judging from the previous comments here. I love how you take so many pictures. What a treasure to have for your kids and everyone else. You have a natural talent for capturing a moment beautifully and artistically. And, what a blessed thing to own a digital camera!
Glad you had such a great time in California for the wedding and gathering of such a great group of family. Love the pictures.
