I just got done running 5 miles. One hour, one minute and 23 seconds.
That's a big deal for me.
I've only done that once before, 4 years ago, on a treadmill at the YMCA.
This time was for real.
Outside in the sun.
Me, the dirt, the blue sky.
Quite possibly, you were there too.
Here's what I learned:
canals = stinky
fabric softner from aparment dryers smells good.
Dirt is softer that concrete.
The wind is your friend on a hot day.
The shade tree is your friend on that last mile home.
My town is sorta short on trees, but big on sky.
There's more cars than people on the road.
People should get out more on nice days.
I talk to people in my head when I run.
Good people. People I admire. People I know are runners and people who aren't.
People who accomplish good things. People who preserver. You know, people like you.
Thanks for running with me today, peeps.
See ya on the trails again soon.

Much respect for you!!!
And do the people talk back to you? Just kidding, you need an iPhone and some good tunes! I wish you lived by me and then you could whip my buns into shape, maybe someday... until then, GO BECKY GO! If you could hear me when you were running that is what I would be saying.
Wahoo! Good for you! You are going to do great in your race.
Go Becky!
Good job! I wish I were a runner. I keep thinking one day I'll start.
I agree, people should be outdoors more often. My sister just moved here from NY and she always says how much she misses walking everywhere. No one is outside here much.
You're amazing, Becky!
I am so impressed! Good luck in the race. Hope you can hear us all cheering you on while you talk to people in your head while you run.
inspiring! i'm a wishful runner.
Way to go! Those firsts... feel so great!
When I run and I am feeling like I want to quite I always picture myself running into a stadium filled with everyone I know cheering me on. Sometimes your imagination can be powerful.
Excited to do the Ragnar with you!
Becky I'm so dang proud of you!!! You girl, you can do anything!
Loved all the Thanksgiving festivities. We need to try the yummy soda shop...
Just so you know, I talk to you when I'm running as well. Seriously.
