Still With Us: A Letter

(I was never intending to post this to my blog; rather I wanted to actually send it, but the email function only lets you send 300 characters (!) and these thoughts were just a little longer than that. I'm posting it here instead.)

Dear Stephanie,

Your last several posts have really touched my heart and caused me to talk to you in my head so much that I’m actually dashing off this email to you for real! (Do you remember that night several years ago that we stood on my drive way and philosophized about the universe? Sometimes I wish I could sit out there under the tree and have another discussion with you about things like your last post about the media’s trite handling of “critical conditions” or Mr. Einstein’s connection between Time and Earth’s gravity).

When we got that phone call a year ago that you had been in the accident I remember immediately saying out loud, “Oh, Father in Heaven, please don’t take her yet. Earth needs her here still. She is such a good woman and Earth needs more people like her, not less” And here you are still touching the earth with your goodness.

I was so happy to see your girls getting to have their annual Back to School Feast complete with crowns and Fashion Show. Their mother is there in their home with her husband and children and that is as it should be. Back to School Night AND hiking the Y all in one week? Amazing. Such triumphs! Like really, you’re making me cry here!

I can’t tell you how glad I am that you are still with us on this side of Eternity, Miss Stephanie Aurora! Thank you so much for sharing your victories with us through the blog. Really, it means a lot. I know you could choose otherwise, but thank you for sharing yourself. You and your family are still in our prayers and we hope that you will continue to overcome whatever daily hurdles and challenges life presents. God Bless You.
