Just a Few Reasons Why. . .

So I thought I'd do a little Father's Day Tribute to Handsome and highlight some of the great things he's done recently. So don't feel too embarassed, dear, but you know I think you're the greatest guy in the world!! Definitely my favorite, and here's a few reasons why. . .

Our washing machine (an old Sears Kenmore brand) was on the fritz. It just could agitate the clothes anymore. It looked like the agitator was spinning when there was only water in it, but you add a few clothes and it totally wimped out. Couldn't move a thing. I told Handsome it was dead and needed a repair man. Or better yet, one of those fabulous new front loaders to replace it. I like the blue ones. He gave me the let's be reasonable look he is famous for and called a repair man. The guy said it was a cam dog problem and would cost $70 labor and $5 in parts. Well, as you know, Handsome hates to throw money to some repair man if he can save it for himself. So knowing that somebody would be coming soon to bail him out if he totally messed up the machine, he felt he could dive in and try and fix it himself. He took apart the machine, confirmed the repair man's telephone diagnosis, ordered a part on line for $4 including shipping and had it fixed the day the part arrived. Have I mentioned that I love this man?

Handsome ran in a triathalon in Payson this past Saturday. People ask me if he trained . . .well. . .the last time he swam laps was a year ago at the family reunion's pool. But he did do some biking and running to get ready! And even though the street bike he borrowed for the race BROKE in the middle of the race and he had to find some allen wrenches to fix the crank shaft (after peddling several miles one legged) he did fix the bike and finished the race. It was nearly 2 hours of straight exercise and the guy wasn't even sore the next day. I was very proud of him. Here he is with Reachel (who was amazing to watch! That girl knows how to give the final sprint kick!!)

And though he'll probably roll his eyes and ask me to remove this picture, I give you a photo of Handsome as the prophet Malachi. He has commented that I am the one who got called to primary, and he is still the Elder's Quorum President. However, he still helps me out all the time. I took this yesterday when he brought the children the great and tremendous news that Elijah would come and turn the hearts of the children to their fathers. I love that this man can dress up, entertain & educate children with only minimal arm twisting from his beloved wife.

We had a great evening together with a lovely Father's Day meal. All our grandpa's were out of town so it was just our little family (and my phone line is broken! So we've had 3 days of no one being able to reach us and frankly, its been glorious!) When I discovered that we were out of vanilla ice cream we thought our dessert efforts had been thwarted. That is until I realized we miraculously had all the ingredients for HOME MADE vanilla ice cream. Pure bliss! I urge you to pull out your old ice cream maker (we bought ours at the thrift store for $5 13 years ago!) and create a little summer magic of your own.

And here's a sampling of my first digital scrap booking efforts. Special thank yous to onehm for her excellent class and fabulous LOs! All the paper kits are from Shabby Princess.

So Happy Father's Day Handsome! The main reason I love being a mom is because I get to have you as their Dad!!

maybe you should do a scrapbook page thanking me for bringing the two of you together! I like to think it happened that way anyway.

I too am thankful you two found each other. But tell us again what Nancy had to do with it. Sorry, if I knew this before it has slipped my mind. You know, old age and all.

Yhea, Nancy, we'll have to have you do a guest blog post about how you brought us together. . .cuz I'm pretty fuzzy on the details, too! I do remember the awesome fortune cookies you made him, but really, by then, he was already in hot pursuit!!

Charie, I would LOVE to live by you guys and since the Francoms are always on the move I urge you to get within driving distance of us at the very least!

This is a great self-esteem boost! I'm feeling the love!

I was pretty stoked about fixing the washing machine for under $4. The Internet to the rescue, once again.

The triathlon was fun -- even with mechanical failures. Come next year and you too can see me in a Speedo.

Father's Day was great but that is easy when you have a fantastic wife and great kids.
